
Certification and Advancement
This course leads to certification of skills as a Low Voltage Cabling Technician. This intensive twelve-week course is designed to provide entry level telecommunications cabling installers with the background, knowledge and basic skills needed to function effectively on the job. At the end of the comprehensive course, each learner can work as a Low Voltage Cabling Technician.
Course Overview
Learners gain hands-on knowledge and ability to successfully conduct site surveys, pull wire/cable and terminate and test copper to the highest level of specification (currently Category 6). The program offers core skills training to meet the diverse needs of the telecommunications cabling industry. Twelve-week course. Class meets twice per week.
Competency Goal
- Installation of cables –CAT5 and fiber optics
- Basic wiring to make connection-point moves across rooms
- Troubleshoot and locate existing cabling; terminate and label cabling
- Server break/fix; racking and stacking servers
- Switches; cabling from server to patch panel.
Potential Career(s)
Employment of cable repairers is projected to create very good job opportunities for new workers population. (1) Careers include cable repair technician.
