Lab Four is a workforce development partner specializing in technical training and industry-recognized certification.* Through collaborative efforts, a comprehensive workforce development model can be implemented that includes:
Personal Leadership Skills Development
Developing positive attitudes, knowledge and behaviors required to perform successfully and advance in the workplace is a crucial component of workforce training. Good interpersonal and problem solving skills, knowledge of standard business practices, financial literacy and strategic work advancement planning are examples of typical “soft skills” training components that promote personal leadership, RAP: responsibility, accountability, and preparedness.
Technical training and certification*
Moving from low-paying jobs in many service occupations requires workers to develop technical skills in industries with good growth potential. Industry-driven curriculum is key in delivering effective, technical-training programs. Learners acquiring industry-recognized certifications gain marketable skills and are better prepared to compete in the 21st century workforce.
On-the-job training
The goal of on-the-job training (OJT) is to impart knowledge during the training process in a manner that is transferable to the workplace. In addition, OJT training is a viable option for gaining experience needed to meet job qualifications and often leads to employment at the training site.
Job placement
Hiring of “grass-roots” graduates shows confidence in collaborative efforts and indicates an important milestone of success. Every community has assets that can be mobilized to overcome its challenges. Job placement requires creative approaches to finding opportunities that utilize those assets.
