Continuing Education Units | Lab Four
Courses taken at Lab Four qualify for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) issued by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). CEUs are in the public domain and can be awarded by any institution, but the IACET CEU awarded by Lab Four is the most widely recognized and trusted.
What are CEUs?
The CEU was created by IACET as a measurement of continuing education. One (1) IACET CEU is equal to ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. Under IACET’s care, the IACET CEU has evolved from a quantitative measure to a hallmark of quality training and instruction.
How Do CEUs work?
After completing a course at Lab Four, there is an option to request American Council on Education (ACE) credits. When selected, the student’s information is transferred over to ACE, an account is created (or accessed if already existing from a past submission), and the course is logged onto the student’s ACE record. Once the submission to ACE is completed, the student will receive an email from ACE with instructions to how to log on to the ACE website, view CEUs, and order official transcripts.
Why Are CEUs important?
Acquiring CEUs lets employers, customers, and peers know that a professional is continually seeking to grow and is current with the trends of the field. In many professions, it is necessary to acquire a set amount of CEUs every year to maintain a certification or professional license. Keeping skills fresh is important regardless of the field, and taking certification and training courses to acquire CEUs does just that.
